Spotify could soon be launching a subscription podcast service, if a recent survey the company launched is any indication.
Variety's Intelligence Platform president Andrew Wallenstein received a survey that went out via the Spotify app that gauged user interest in the potential platform. It would provide access to a variety of original shows or exclusives for a monthly fee.
The survey lined out about four different potential plans that could come to fruition, all from $3 to $8 monthly. The $3 plan would include exclusive interviews and episodes with ads. The $8 plan would focus on 'high quality original content' as well as early access to certain episodes, and no ads. These fees would all be on top of a paid premium Spotify music subscription.

Given Spotify's recent investment in the podcasting space as of late with names like Michelle Obama, it makes sense that the platform would consider an additional method for users to get more out of podcasts in general.
However, when speaking to The Verge, a Spotify spokesperson stated that there's currently 'no further news to share on future plans at this time' in reference to the survey. Should Spotify actively consider rolling out these plans in the near future we'll likely hear about it soon enough, but for now the service seems reticent to discuss potential paid plans.
